How My Fat Fingers Got Me Screwed

How My Fat Fingers Got Me Screwed

We have all “hit” send on that text and then tried to climb through the phone and get it back.  This is just one example of many other hilarious ones that were not appropriate to share here (but I wish I could 😊).  When it is a text there isn’t much that can’t be fixed, but when it is a healthcare device communicating critical medication admin data into the Electronic Heath Record, your fat fingers can cause much more serious problems.

We received a call today from an end-user who is attempting to find a solution when faced with not being able to scan the wrist band of the patient nor the barcode on the medication to be administered.  The devices that had been purchased for medication administration did not have the capability to scan a barcode.  Now, this individual is faced with moving these devices to ancillary staff and ordering new mobile computers with scanning capabilities.  Not a good story to tell your boss.

When the purchasing decision is fully informed you move beyond voice, nurse alerts, and text, and you also get a device with the simplicity of Android with all the mobile computing, clinical collaboration and data capture features your staff needs to provide every patient with the highest quality care.  This allows your clinical staff to capture data that then seamlessly enters the patient’s electronic health record while enabling the health care provider to achieve the requirements for positive patient identification.

Attempting to enter vital patient data with your fat fingers can end up much like …“children” showing up for dinner in an entirely different kind of way.Let us help you avoid the expensive process of getting unscrewed by not getting screwed in the first place.
